For this week’s discussion board, I would like you to engage in a conversation with someone about retirement. Specifically, I would like you to engage them in describing what their ideal future retirement lifestyle might look like. Tell your interviewee you are enrolled in a graduate program, and you were asked to interview one person and ask them about money, retirement, and financial planners. Have them imagine a desired lifestyle in retirement. See if you can have the person engage in this exercise deeply enough to describe this lifestyle as specifically as possible, including where it would be and what a day, month, or year would look like for them. Ask them if they currently have a financial planner, not just an investment advisor. Have them help you understand what qualities or attributes they would look for in someone to help plan and entrust their families’ financial futures. Feel free to include a discussion of a Fiduciary Standard for CFP® professionals. Before you wrap up, thank the person “for their time and helping you with your assignment.” Then say, “Before we go, is there anything else I should know?” Your assignment is to share your experiences with your interviewees, as to how your conversation went. How well did they engage in the lifestyle exercise? What attributes did they identify as important for a financial planner to have? How did the “one last thing” question at the end go? You may certainly respond to more than two classmate posts but will only be graded on two. Consider spreading the wealth if you see a post that hasn’t received a response. Respond by continuing the conversation through quality engagement in any of the following ways: Offering a new point of view Asking a
