Here is a tree. Make up a real world problem that uses the tree and trigonometric functions to find the height of the tree. If we turn this equation around, we can solve for the height of the tree in terms of the tangent of the angle and the distance to the tree:

height = tan( angle ) x distance

 This equation was my key to finding the height of the tree.
The problem is to find the height of the tree, h.
h is the unknown variable.
To solve it, we need two known variables: angle of sunlight θ and length of tree shadow k.
