An 18-year-old college student with an exacerbation of systemic lupus erythematosus (sle) has been receiving prednisone (deltasone) 20 mg daily for 4 days. Which of these medical orders should you question

Respuesta :

I believe the answer is Give a "catch-up" dose of varicella vaccine

The patient is under corticosteroid (prednisone) treatment which temporary suppress the immune system. When immune system suppressed, some dormant pathogen like varicella might awake  and cause reinfection. The prednisone should be continued because it will relieve the SLE symptoms.
