The assignment is intended to assess your reading and writing skills, as well as looking at how you structure an essay draft. For that reason, I can't write your draft, but I'll show you how to write it.

Draft structure

  • Introduction: You must show the theme of the poem you analyzed. This theme is the subject, the message that the poem wants to convey. Do this through a thesis statement, which is the expression of your interpretation of the poem's theme.

  • Body: Show how the poem's theme is constructed by the poet, as well as how it is possible to identify it as a reader. Highlight lines from the poem that justify your statements and show how your thesis statement will be developed.

  • Conclusion: Reaffirm your thesis statement by showing evidence that it is correct and how important this interpretation is to the reader.

The assignment asks you to write everything from a third-person point of view. This means that you should not use personal pronouns and adopt more impartial and comprehensive writing, using third-person pronouns.
