According to Geocentric terms, the sun revolving around the Earth seemed so valid and so why Scholars were able to follow the footsteps of Ptolemy and Aristotle for more than thousand years.

Though the notions and ideas of both the philosophers about the universe did not match the actual reality, they gave space for predictions and guesses which turned out to be right.

Even though, Aristarcus 4 centuries before Jesus Christ, posed the heliocentric model for our Solar System, the geocentric model considered by Aristoteles and established by Ptolomeo, in his book " Almagest" become accepted as correct for some reasons, between them:

1.-The remarkable influence of Aristoteles in science.

2.-For that time our solar system  was considered as the whole universe, in this condition, there were no differences between the sun, the moon, and the other stars, all of them were defined as planets ( meaning errant)

3.-In his book "Almagest" Ptolomeo not only established the geocentric model but defined a man,  as the most important piece of the creation for god. That proposition was very important and was adopted  for the church as part of the sacred writings

2.-With the instruments and the knowledge of the time calculations about orbits gave them acceptable results.

3.-After the Church adopted the geocentric model, presenting a different position,  would become dangerous.  14 centuries after Christ, Giordano Bruno, was executed by Inquisition and Galileo suffers from persecution just by keeping the heliocentric model as the correct one.
