In some symbiotic relationships,
one organism may benefit. What
happens to the other organism?
A. The other organism benefits as well.
B. The organism is either helped or harmed.
C. The organism is harmed, then does harm to
the other organism.
B. The organisms can be helped or harmed. If it is helped then it is called mutualism, because both of the organisms mutually help each other (I.e clownfish and sea anemone). The symbiosis can be harmful to the host as well and this is called parasitism(i.e dogs and fleas). There is also a third term for symbiosis which is commensalism which benefits the non host but doesn’t effect the host (I.e barnacles on whales)
