Cheryl Strayed started out her hiking journey which took her about ninety days and a thousand mile journey along the Pacific Crest Trail.

She was unprepared and careless as she made mistakes which would have proved very fatal, were the conditions any different than she met as her boots were too small and her back pack, too big.

On the first few days, she was out of her depth and had to reach out to locals for food and shelter and she was injured in her leg because of the foreign substance she injected few days before she embarked on the hike.
