Split the shape into two rectangles. The top one we’ll call 1 and the bottom we’ll call 2.
Rectangle 1 is 12 wide and 3 yards long. That means the whole rectangle is 36 yards squared.
Rectangle 2 is 6 long and 6 wide. That means it is also 36 yards squares. Add them together and you will get 72 square yards! Hope that helps :)
