Question: A hemisphere is uniformely charged positively. The electric field a point on a diameter away from the centre is directed

(a) perpendicular to the diameter

(b) parallel to the diameter

(c) at an angle tilted towards the diameter

As the electric field is present at a point on diameter the electric field intensity at the electric field components are parallel to the diameter hence they cancel out .

So the field is directed perpendicular towards the diameter
