proteins made by rough er travel to the golgi in sacks called; rough er is connected to the cell nucleus; what is the function of smooth endoplasmic reticulum; proteins made in the rough er; how does rough er differ from smooth er; rough endoplasmic reticulum structure; rough endoplasmic reticulum plant or animal; 3 jobs of the smooth er

Respuesta :

Rough ER moves materials around the cell and makes proteins in sacks called cistern that are either inserted into the cell membrane or sent to the Golgi body.

What is the rough ER main function?

  • The manufacture, folding, quality assurance, and shipment of some proteins take place in the rough ER, which is dotted with millions of membrane-bound ribosomes. The production of steroid hormones, lipid (fat) synthesis, and metabolism are all heavily correlated with smooth ER. It also serves as a detoxifier.
  • This large organelle is made up of flattish, sealed sacs that are next to the nuclear membrane and are highly convoluted. Endoplasmic reticulum is known as "rough" because ribosomes are embedded in its outer surface.
  • About 13 million membrane-bound ribosomes are found on the RER in a typical liver cell. They are firmly connected to the outer cytosolic side of the ER. Rough ER is present in every part of the cell, but it is more prevalent close to the nucleus and the Golgi apparatus.
