Olivia has 21 coins in her drawer. Nine of the coins are nickels, and the rest are pennies.

9 are NICKLES
all the other are pennies
21 - 9 =12
so 12 pennies
1 nickle is 5 cents so
5*9 = 45 cents so
45 + 12 = 57
so the answer is 57 cents

do 21-9=12. So there are 12 pennies. then since you are finding the value of the coins you do 9*5=45 since there are 9 nickels and each nickel is 5 cents. Then you add 45+12=57. So the value is 57 cents.
