You turn a corner and see a ball rolling down a hill; it is rolling faster and faster as time goes by. what causes this acceleration?

Assuming that the ball is on Earth; 

Earth's gravitational force causes the ball to accelerate at a constant rate of 9.8 m/s² Due to this, the ball accelerates down the hill.
