2^2 = 4
3^2 = 9
4^2 = 16
9+4 = 13
13 does not = 16

you can get help from Pythagoras theorem :
[tex] {x}^{2} = {2}^{2} + {3}^{2} \\ {x}^{2} = 4 + 9 = 13 \\ x = \sqrt{13} [/tex]
