Jose is a ninth-grader who dreams of becoming a major-league baseball player. Because of his possible self, Jose will probably practice longer and harder than the other player on his high school softball team. Possible self refers to various components of the cognitive sense of self , the ideal self, who they can become even perhaps who they might be afraid of becoming.
